Best Magnesium in Kenya: My Honest Review from Kenya

I take magnesium glycinate, and it really helps me with good night's sleep. However, before that, I tried a different magnesium, and it gave me loose stools. Here is my honest review for the best magnesium in Kenya.

Best Magnesium for Sleep: My Honest Review from Kenya

Best Magnesium for Sleep: My Honest Review from Kenya

The best magnesium supplement I've ever taken for sleep is magnesium glycinate. But before I get to that conclusion, I've taken different formulations of magnesium.

This is my honest review of the best magnesium for sleep that you can find in Kenya.

Magnesiums Are Not Created Equal

The first magnesium I ever took was magnesium citrate. What I didn't realize is that magnesium supplements are not created equal.

That extra component, for instance magnesium citrate or magnesium glycinate or biglycinate, means a lot in terms of the effect it's going to have on you.

Overall, I would say so long as it is a magnesium compound, relaxation and falling asleep is something you can expect to have.

Magnesium Citrate

When I took magnesium citrate, I noticed I was waking up in the morning with loose stools. This went on for a few weeks before I realized magnesium was the cause.

In fact, I had thought it was food related, but after a couple of weeks I realized it was the magnesium.

From there, I started doing a bit of research over the internet, and I realized that magnesium citrate is a very good stool softener, but it still gives you magnesium supplementation.

Normally, I try to keep my magnesium intake anywhere between 300 and 400 milligrams a day. I have a medical background, 12 years as a critical care nurse, and that is the knowledge I apply.

You do not want to overdose on magnesium, which is a critical electrolyte for so many processes, like muscles and even the cardiovascular system.

Magnesium Oxide

The other magnesium you'd find commonly sold in Kenya, and it's pretty cheap, is magnesium oxide.

I never took this one, but magnesium oxide works best for people with acne. It would surprise you just how many nutrients can help fight things like acne.

Magnesium and zinc oxide are some of those mineral nutrients that are very critical.

Magnesium Glycinate

The best I ever took is magnesium glycinate. My favorite is Doctor's Best magnesium glycinate.

I only take one pill, although when you read the brochure it says take two pills. But I do that for my own reasons.

At age 48, heavy or deep muscle relaxation would affect my sleep because of sleep apnea. Anytime I take more than one pill, I end up waking up in the middle of the night with a headache.

From my medical background, I know it is sleep apnea and a lot of snoring. For that reason, I only take one pill and make sure I sleep on my side with a supportive pillow due to sleep apnea.

But I found this to be the best magnesium for sleep. If you do a bit of research, even on Amazon customer reviews, you'll notice that magnesium glycinate or magnesium biglycinate are highly rated as the best magnesium supplement for sleep.

Whenever I take magnesium glycinate, it takes me less than 15 minutes to fall asleep. One thing I noticed is that I wake up feeling fresh, relaxed, and ready to tackle the day.

The good thing is magnesium is not a habit forming supplement. That's on top of just how fast it makes me fall asleep and stay asleep throughout the night.

Bonus: Melatonin for Jet Lag

Whenever I'm traveling from one time zone to another, I would take melatonin, 3 milligrams, just a very small dose because I don't want to get into sleep apnea territory.

This helps me with jet lag and adjusting my sleep patterns. When I take a small dose of melatonin and a small dose of magnesium, I sleep well even when traveling from one time zone to another.

Final Take

My favorite still remains magnesium glycinate for better sleep at night, muscle relaxation, and overall optimum mineral supplementation for overall health.
