Creatine 21 August 2026

My creatine experience at age 48

This is what happened when I started taking magnesium for 4 weeks in a row at age 48.

This is what happened when I took creatine at age 48.

I started taking creatine on and off the last couple of years. Today I am 48, and this is my experience supplementing creatine and going to the gym.

First, let me talk about my early days taking creatine.

The stomach cramps were unbearable. It made me feel like throwing up. It made me feel like it was not worth it or bearable long term.

Of course, like anyone would do, I started googling around, seeing if something was wrong with the creatine I was taking or something was wrong with me.

But I realized that that is pretty standard and pretty common when people are taking creatine.

I tried clean creatine after seeing some reviews online. And I found clean creatine, a creatine in a black bottle, that to me, it was easy to tolerate.

I didn't go through the so-called loading doses, but however, I did take large doses, and I normally take large doses when I'm supplementing.

This is what I noted.

1. My Muscles Felt Fuller

Within the first week, my muscles felt fuller. They looked bigger.

This was one of the first things I noticed.

2. I Was Pushing Way Heavier Weight

I was pushing way heavier weight, much easier, and my recovery was awesome.

Going to the gym felt different. The weights felt easier to move, I was able to push harder, and I felt like I was recovering much better.

3. For Some Reason, I Was Better in Bed

For some reason, and please don't quote me or don't go thinking that it's gonna do the same thing for you, but I was better in bed.

I don't know whether that had anything to do with creatine or everything else that was happening with my workouts and how I was feeling, but that was my experience.

4. I Ate More and My Workout Focus Was Super Pumped

I ate more, in my opinion.

I kept feeling hungry, although I was also working out a lot, and my workout focus was super pumped.

When I went to the gym, I wanted to work out. I wanted to push. The focus was there.

5. I Started Falling Asleep Much Earlier

I was falling asleep much earlier in the evening, earlier than usual.

I'm not sure if it has an effect on sleep, but that's how it worked for me.

And when I woke up the following morning, I was feeling very fresh.

That was another thing that really stood out to me.

6. The Mental Boost Was Crazy

The mental boost was crazy.

Focus, clarity, and feeling calm was something I had never experienced before.

For me, this was probably one of the most interesting things because when people talk about creatine, most of the conversation is usually about muscles, strength, and the gym.

But I noticed something mentally too.

I felt focused.

I felt clear.

I felt calm.

Then I Started Taking It On and Off

I wouldn't consider myself a very disciplined person, so after a month or so, I started taking creatine on and off, and before I knew it, I had gone for a couple of weeks without creatine.

Has anybody else ever experienced this?

I realized my libido actually went very low after I stopped taking it.

Again, I don't know whether stopping creatine had anything to do with it or whether something else was going on at the same time. I'm only talking about what I personally experienced.

But the difference was noticeable enough for me to pay attention to it.

If anyone has ever experienced that, it would make me feel good to know that I'm not alone.

That was my experience taking creatine, and I'm not saying that everyone would experience the same things, but that is what I experienced.
